Vice President of Operations
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President of Operations at Seek Thermal will develop the strategy and drive execution of our Manufacturing Operations to drive rapid growth. Our thermal imaging technology is deployed in our own branded products and in products we produce for other Fortune 1000 companies. Operational strategies must support demanding customer quality, flexibility, reducing cost and driving manufacturing labor overhead efficiencies.
The VP of Operations serves on the executive management team of the company, so in addition to being a highly competent functional executive, must also work well with other functional executives to execute and problem solve. As an executive team member, must be able to contribute to business strategy development and collectively create a compelling company vision and culture for all Seek employees.

The employee must regularly exert or lift up to 25 pounds of materials. Some business travel is required.

Vice President of Operations
SUMMARY:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Development, execution and oversight of manufacturing strategy to enable business growth and to meet sales demand.
- Responsible for oversight of Santa Barbara-based production facility where all Seek products undergo final assembly and test. Production Management and Manufacturing Engineering report to the VP of Operations.
- Participate and oversee in the development and execution of Seek Thermal’s global sourcing strategies. Director of Supply Chain reports to VP of Operations.
- Manage Seek inventories for overall turns and controls.
- Develop and run organization to key performance metrics, including inventory turns, cost reduction, labor efficiency, capital utilization, overhead absorption.
- Ensure operational alignment with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and other key stakeholders.
- Work closely with VP of Engineering on New Product Introductions (NPI) to ensure on-time product launches.
- Collaborate with finance to establish annual budget for Operations with bottom line responsibilities to execute budget and performance metrics.
- Create a positive working environment and maintain high employee engagement, creating working environment that attracts and retains the best team.
- Maintain compliance with customer-specific quality programs and provide compliance documentation as requested.
- Implement necessary technology infrastructure for both shop floor and materials management and planning
SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Strong functional leadership with past experience overseeing Supply Chain and Production and demonstrated skills in influencing, engaging, persuading, negotiating, and problem resolution to drive results at all levels of the organization.
- Strategic problem solving, ability to provide strategic direction, develop operational plans and manage execution/implementation.
- Prior experience in electronics production environments that overall exceed tens of thousands of units per month with high variation in SKU configurations.
- Deep experience with Operations Management key metrics and demonstrated ability in implementing these metrics across an organization and holding team and suppliers to these goals and metrics.
- Track record of building Operations organizations in high-growth environment from start-up to scale. Comfortable working in resource-constrained environments, and problem-solving around these constraints to achieve goals.
- Executive management experience within a best-in-class hardware products company, ideally one that is technology-based.
- Past experience developing and implementing key Operations management systems such as MRP, supply forecasting, factory automation and demonstrated judgement of when and how to deploy such systems in a growth environment.
- Product Quality experience, from formal knowledge of programs such as ISO to on-the-floor quality practices that can ensure Seek products meet high-quality needs of our customers while minimizing rejects and maximizing yield.
- Demonstrated success working in a team-oriented executive environment. Must be able to work with all key organizational functions including Engineering, Sales, Product Management and Finance.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes in an electronics production environment, including PCB manufacturing standards, testing and sourcing; moderate to complex electronics calibration; moderate levels of automation, particularly in testing and calibration; firmware and software integration to hardware.
- Prior experience with a company launching numerous electrical products per year, and experience in providing NPI and DFM input in the product development process.
- Must be able to travel internationally and domestically, 25%.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS in an engineering/technical/Business Operations Management discipline required
- MBA preferred
- 15+ years progressively responsible management experience in sourcing/supply chain and Operations.
- Experience in “best-in-class” Operations Management/Supply chain in large companies (Fortune 1000) and high-growth small company experience (Inc. 500).
