Material Handler

Under the direct supervision of the Value Stream Manager, The Material Handler/Water Spider will keep materials in stock at the point of use in production areas. A water strider’s purpose is to handle the replenishment tasks so that the production personnel can focus on the value-added tasks that create products.


  • Refill RIP (Raw & In-Process inventory) racks from bulk storage
  • Refill point-of-use material storage receptacles from RIP racks (intermediate inventory location)
  • Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, organizing and counting materials and supplies
  • Open boxes, de-trash, put parts into bin
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Conveys materials to or from storage or work sites to designated area, using hand truck, cart or forklift
  • Clean inventory areas, and equipment, using broom, rags, and cleaning supplies
  • Maintain organization and clean-up of production lines
  • Prepare for, and assist in, product line changeovers
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Must be detail oriented to ensure accuracy in all work performed
  • Deadline-oriented, to ensure work is completed on time
  • Excellent Organizational skills required
  • Must be flexible and calm in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must be able to work closely and well with others
  • Must be able to read and match numerical and alpha characters quickly and accurately
  • Must have very good communication, social, writing, and arithmetic skills


  • At least five years of material handling or electronic assembly experience, preferably in a lean manufacturing environment
  • High School diploma or equivalent
